Something happened this evening that hasn't happened in ages: I stumbled on a blog that is genuinely entertaining.

It all started when I was going to write a request to Ricky Gervais to produce and act in a Benny Hill biopic (an attempt to be lighthearted after too much raw emotion). I loved watching Benny Hill when I was a kid. It was the closest to porn I was allowed to watch until I finally landed a job at Weinberg's print warehouse where all the Hustler returns ended up for shredding. I confess quite a few Hustler and Leg Show mags never got shredded. Benny Hill's show was so twisted that I figure his life was also twisted. Why not celebrate it?

Anyway, aside from both being British Comedians and looking alike and having the same cheeky humor, the two guys have nothing in common.



Oh, so then I thought I've been out of the media loop since I left Hollywood so maybe there already is a biopic for Benny Hill. And there's indeed some rumors (along with Thoreau's biopic) but nothing mainstream...because Ricky Gervais hasn't gotten my message yet.

But in my searching I came on a blog that takes my irony and disdain to the next level. The latest irony craze that I wasn't aware of is to write reviews for movies and albums that don't exist. This sounds way more fun that actually writing real movie reviews, something you will remember I did for 2 years in Hollywood for absolutely no reward while my screenplays died on the vine. My resentment over those years is such that those reviews all remain in cyberspace purgatory.

For a creative writer finding something new like this is like discovering life on another planet. I'm not alone, others are trying to blunder their way to new creative summits and they are doing it for free and working odd jobs as they slowly starve.

When I get a minute I'm going to write a review of the last movie Kevin Smith didn't write and direct. But if anyone has a request of a review of something that doesn't exist then let me know. It's such a classic exercise that I think college professors should implement it in their curriculum. Sometimes being clever is enough.
